A charming late Georgian period farmhouse enjoying a quiet setting, hidden away from passers-by in the most sought after part of this attractive North Somerset village. The extensive and very well appointed accommodation includes 5 reception rooms, a superb bespoke kitchen with Aga and bi fold doors to the terrace and gardens, a cinema - games room, gym space, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a range of outbuildings and gardens and paddock totalling about an acre with far reaching views.
The house is thought to have been built around 1820 to supersede the original older farmhouse that still stands to the east. Many 'new' farmhouses or significant additions to existing houses were built in the area around this time due to the increasing prosperity in farming as a consequence of improved farming practices.
In 1892 the farm was sold and we gather that was when the Naish’s, a prominent local farming family acquired the property. In 1924 Victor Naish propagated a small orchard behind Stonehouse Farm with a wide variety of Apple trees to make his Cider which was highly regarded in the immediate area and also used to part pay the farm workers (from the study window).
That orchard still exists beyond the paddock that is included with this house and 95 years later, Ganley and Naish, Craft Cider makers are continuing Victor's legacy by recreating his original Cider named Morning Dew “a perfectly balanced, medium Cider of bittersweet and sharp apples picked from the same orchard behind Stonehouse Farm”.
Today the farmhouse combines the attraction of a warm south facing position overlooking orchards and pasture land on the edge of the village with the advantage of not being isolated or remote. Kenn is a mere 2 miles from the coastal town of Clevedon and 14 miles west of Bristol. A mainline railway station that offers direct services to Bristol, Bath and London - Paddington is less than 2½ miles away in the neighbouring village of Yatton. Junction 20 of the M5 is just over 2 miles away allowing easy access to the county’s motorway network.
This very special property is spacious and well planned with endless accommodation that flows beautifully. The house is enriched with many attractive period features and we are sure that all who view will be delighted.
